We are celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the KSQ Farmers Market, serving our local community since 2000! We offer a wonderful variety which changes some week to week with bi-weekly, monthly and guest vendors. The weekly lineup below is typically updated by the Thursday prior to Market day, so please check the date above to know that you are seeing details for the current week. Thank you! Farms & Growers
(In-Season Produce, Meats, Plants/Flowers)
Breezy Acre Flowers (every Friday) Ben has a beautiful selection of chemical-free produce, gorgeous cut flower bouquets, hanging baskets & well-tended plants from his family farm in Nottingham. This week’s produce harvest: lima beans, eggplant (inc. Fairy Tale), mixed cherry tomatoes, slicing & heirloom tomatoes, green peppers, cucumbers, a variety of potatoes, zucchini, beets, carrots, onions, garlic bulbs, and homegrown popcorn. Sweet corn is back this week, and watermelon & cantaloupe is new! Canter Hill Farm (away on vacation this week!) Collective Creamery (out this week, back 8/23) Cultinate Greens (bi-weekly) Kennett-native Nate Taylor is back at KSQ every other week! For those who met him last year, he has started farming new land and has also partnered with Tim Mountz of Happy Cat Farm, growing a beautiful variety of vegetables + microgreens using organic practices. This week’s harvest: a nice selection of heirloom & cherry tomatoes, a variety of peppers including poblanos & shishitos. Likely some potatoes, onions & cut herbs. And of course, MICROGREENS—which are packed with intense flavor & loaded with nutrients! Family Tree (final weeks: 8/9 + 8/23) Nick Castelli has variety of well-tended annuals, exotics, well-priced succulents + cacti, vegetable + herb plantsgrown in his Oxford greenhouse. His plants are a beautiful addition to your home and gardens! Check in with him each week to see what’s new. Flying Plow Farm (every Market day) The Flying Plow team brings a variety of certified organic vegetables and 100% grass-fed/finished beef plus their own pasture-raised chicken & eggs—all direct from their farm in Rising Sun. This week’s harvest: bell peppers & sweet frying peppers, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, tomatillos, cucumbers, potatoes, a variety of summer squash & zucchini, yellow onions, carrots, beets, curly kale, garlic, cut basil. (MAYBE eggplants, okra, limited greens mix & head lettuce.) Preorder on their website for easy pick-up. Rex Farms Orchard / Big Hill Ciderworks (every Friday) Apple season has begun! This week Troy & Maria will have their early apple varieties including Zestar, Sansa & Gingergold. Also more delicious yellow peaches, white donut/Saturn peaches, blackberries, blueberries yellow + white nectarines. They always have a fine selection of Big Hill hard ciders, which are truly farm-to-bottle with the fruit grown, pressed, fermented, bottled & distributed right from the orchards. Swallow Hill (every Friday) Elizabeth & Douglas offer a gorgeous variety of “fine produce home-grown with love” from their farm in Cochranville, using sustainable and holistic farming methods. This week’s harvest: green snap beans, Persian cucumbers, green bell peppers, sweet onions, lots of summer squash (yellow Tempest, two types of green zucchini, yellow sunburst pattypans), Carmen peppers, jalapeños, Fresnos, and shishitos. Also tomatoes: Speckled Roman, Brandy Boys, cherry & grape tomatoes. New this week: melons! Food Artisans & Producers
Brandywine Valley Bread (every Friday) Fran bakes naturally leavened (sourdough) breads in Downingtown using local & organic grains. They always bring beautiful baguettes, several types of boules, pre-sliced sandwich loaves (Pullmans), a variety of BAGELS, and a selection of handcrafted morning buns and croissants. Come get a taste of Brandywine’s best!
Cucina Verde (2nd/4th Fridays) Annmarie brings her amazing small-batch lacto-fermented sauerkrauts. Incredibly flavorful and rich in natural probiotic life, they are a wonderful supplement to any meal. Add a bit to sandwiches, alongside eggs for breakfast, or enjoy straight out of the jar. This week’s varieties MAY include: Kurry Kraut, KimChi, Curtido and 3D Kraut. Honey & Rose Bakery (2nd/4th Fridays) Berlyn Mellein creates a delicious variety of baked goods made with natural, quality ingredients. On the menu this week: Lemon Poppyseed Cake with Mixed Berries & Lemon Meringue Buttercream and Carrot Cake with Pistachios (gluten-free/vegan). Also a variety of scones (savory & sweet) and her small-batch granola (Whiskey Hollow maple nut, honey no-not, and chocolate almond cherry.) Joanne’s Candy Kitchen (every Friday) Kevin brings his sweet confections such as chocolate-covered caramels, a variety of chocolate creams & barks, chocolate-covered pretzels, peppermint patties (and more!)—all handcrafted with Wilbur Chocolate from Lititz, PA. His Almond Butter Crunch is a market-favorite, perfectly crafted with a family recipe handed down through the generations. Maiale Deli & Salumeria (every Friday) Handcrafted in Wilmington, Maiale (“My.all.ay”) has sausages with flavor combinations you won’t find elsewhere! They will also bring a small selection of their signature salumi—varieties may include Tuscan Salami, Sopressata, Cacciatore Salami, Pepperoni, Coppa, Lanzo, Pancetta and Guanciale. Mediterranean Delicacy (2nd/4th Fridays) Sourced directly from his family’s groves in Tunisia, Abdel is bringing rich & flavorful organic/unfiltered olive oil, organic argan oil, unique spice blends (harissa, za’atar etc), spreads and preserved lemons. He also carries beautiful handcrafted olive wood items for your kitchen. Tat’s Yummies (every Friday) Melina specializes in European patisseries that reflect her heritage and family traditions. Every Friday, she has a wide variety of sweet delicacies, including petit fours, macaron, pastries, cupcakes, cookies, cakes, and pies—made with simple, natural ingredients. She will have plenty of tender focaccia with various toppings. Whiskey Hollow (2nd/4th Fridays) Sara brings her family’s amazing pure PA maple syrup, along with all the maple-goodness they create with it—infused syrups (vanilla & cinnamon are favorites!), maple mustard, maple sugar, pancake mix and more. Also a variety of low-sugar jams/preserves made with local fruit. Prepared Foods

Aunt Mamie’s Pasta (2nd/4th Fridays) Mike & Theresa Vaccaro use family recipes & all-natural ingredients in making their fresh pastas and prepared meals from scratch. This week’s features: Try their new MEAT LASAGNA with marinara sauce this week! Also assorted FRESH PASTAS, potato and ricotta gnocchi, several types of raviolis, homemade meatballs, chicken parmesan, eggplant parmesan. Add some delicious basil pesto, sun-dried tomato pesto, rosa sauce, alfredo, or marinara sauce! Katja’s Empanadas (2nd/4th Fridays) HOT EMPANADAS—READY-TO-EAT!—available this week from Katja’s food trailer! Katja will also have her usual variety of delicious, handmade frozen empanadas, and pastelon (lasagne with plantains instead of pasta), Katja’s creations are ready to take home and heat for easy meals! Taste of Puebla (every week) Chris always has their delicious fresh, ready-to-eat HOT TAMALES (pork, chicken or vegan.) Chef Mariana & Cristobal Castaneda make authentic Mexican fare using family recipes. They always have plenty of hand-cut corn chips, fresh guacamole, pico de gallo, spicy red salsa & salsa fresca. For simple suppers, try their take-home options: Black Beans, vegan Mexican Rice, and seasoned meats such as Mole Poblano with Chicken, Chicken Tinga, Pulled Pork plus 3-packs of refrigerated tamales. Hen and Chic Vintage (2nd Fridays ONLY) Alexandra makes small-batch organic lip balms, body butters, bar soaps + liquid castile soaps using the highest quality, all-natural ingredients—right here in Kennett Square. Her soaps leave you feeling and smelling wonderfully clean, and the body butters and balms keep your skin nourished and hydrated. |
